Located around the western and southern shore of Lake Sunapee, Newbury (population 2042) offers both summer and winter recreational opportunities.  Lake Sunapee provides great boating and swimming, Mt. Sunapee Ski Resort (Newbury’s largest employer) offers premier skiing on 65 trails and is well known for grooming and snowmaking, and Baker Hill Golf course offers an equity-owned 18 hole golf course that enjoys “no tee-times” golfing for it’s private members.  The only public beach on Lake Sunapee is located in Newbury.  This state owned beach provides sandy beaches, changing and rest rooms, a public boat launch, and lifeguard service in the summer.  One of the summer’s highlights is the annual League of New Hampshire Craftsmen’s Fair held for 9 days at Mt. Sunapee Resort in August.  If you enjoy hiking, the John Hay National Wildlife Refuge has 3 miles of walking trails, a portion of which skirts the shore of Lake Sunapee. 

The town is 38 sq. miles in size, elevation is 119 ft., the median age is 42.1 years, and students are part of the Kearsarge Regional School District, 1-12.

The picturesque town of New London (population 4463) serves as a hub for the surrounding towns and shares water frontage on Lake Sunapee along with Newbury and Sunapee.  Here you can find Hannaford’s grocery store, Colonial Pharmacy, New London Hospital, Clarke’s Hardware, the state liquor store, Spring Ledge Farm Stand, Lake Sunapee Country Club golf course, and a variety of shops and restaurants.  Colby-Sawyer College, a 4-year liberal arts college, was established in 1837 and now has around 900 students enrolled.  The largest employers are the New London Hospital and Colby-Sawyer College.  Residents can enjoy town beaches at Little Lake Sunapee and Pleasant Lake.  Visitors can find plenty to do – especially in the summer with free band concerts on the town green Friday evenings, the Barn Playhouse, hiking on some of the local trails, fairs, parades, and more.

The town consists of 25.6 sq. miles, elevation is 1291 ft., the median age is 47.3 years, and students are part of the Kearsarge Regional School District, 1-12.

One of 3 towns that border Lake Sunapee, Sunapee (population 3330) is well known for summer recreation.  The focus here is on the lake as visitors flock to the handful of shops and restaurants in Sunapee Harbor.  One can also take a cruise on the M.V. Mt. Sunapee or a dinner cruise on the M.V. Kearsarge.  Residents have use of 2 town beaches, one at Dewey Beach on Garnet St. and one in Georges Mills off of Route 11.  The largest employer is the Sunapee School District, followed by Micro-Precision. 

The town is 25 sq. miles in size, elevation is 1020 ft., median age of the population is 41.7, and students attend Sunapee K-12.
